Just Let It Be

You sit there, thinking
I wonder of what
Many things, you say
A billion little things at once
I tell you the same

But we both know,
What we are really thinking
Not a billion things
No, just one
Thinking of each other

I want to be with you
You want to be with me
Let's stop with this cherade
And just let it be
Just you and me

Novel Outline

Overview:
This novel is about how everyone has the ability to change who they are as a person. It is about finding one’s true identity and finding a place where they truly fit. This novel will include romance and heartbreak. Lies and deceit. Trust and loyalty. Identity and peer pressure. It will tackle a lot of different problems, but will showcase just how hard it can be to find your true identity. The novel will take place in the present time set and be placed in Barrie, Ontario. The genre in which I am writing this novel will be literary fiction. It is going to focus on the characters and what situations they will face the most.

Character Descriptions:

Callie is what some would call, the perfect teenager. At just 17 years old, she is responsible, has a career goal in mind, stays out of trouble and is always on top. She is at the top of her class in marks, she is on almost every extra-curricular activity possible, and when she has the time, she volunteers, giving soup to the homeless. Callie is an all around good person. She has a happy go-lucky type personality, and strives to see the best in everyone. She values her friends and family the most in her life. Callie can be really stubborn at times, especially when she know she is right about something. On the downside though, she is easily persuaded and very trusting.

Jayson has a tough as nails exterior, but is a good guy at heart. He has a sarcastic sense of humour, and although he has made some wrong choices earlier on in life, he is trying to change. You know what they say though, old habits die hard. Jayson will stand up for his friends and fight to the death for them. Jayson does not like being in large crowds and tries to avoid them. As well, if he is in a place that is too loud for his liking, he will leave. He prefers to be left alone most times, but does enjoy the company of certain people. He is the kind of person that does not have a problem with anyone, unless they have a problem with him, or someone he cares about.

Arianna is the best friend of Callie Rae. They met in middle school, when they were in the 6th grade. Arianna was new in town, and Callie being Class Rep, was assigned to show her around and make her feel welcome. Since then, they have become inseparable. Arianna is the complete opposite of Callie. Where Callie is shy, Arianna is outgoing. Arianna tends to think more outside the box and is okay with not being perfect. In fact, Arianna doesn’t believe in perfection. She believes that perfection is an unreachable goal, and prefers doing what she thinks is her personal best. Arianna loves to dance. It is her passion and she plans to pursue professional dancing as a future career.

Daniel is Jayson’s best friend, ((and soon to be Arianna’s boyfriend)). To people that do not know him, he is known as the school’s main dealer. Everyone knows if they need a fix, contact him and he will come through, as long as you keep your end up. He’s the kind of guy you do not want to mess with or cross. To the people that do know him, what you see is exactly what you get. He holds nothing back, about himself or about others. He is loyal to those that show him mutual respect.

Setting:
This novel is going to take place in many locations around Barrie, Ontario and will be placed in the present. The setting will include: school, various charity locations, houses, the mall, etc. The setting is connected to the theme of the novel based on ......?

POV:
This novel is going to be written using the 3rd person. I am choosing to write in the third person so that the reader has the chance to put themselves into the shoes of whatever character they would like. It is easier to relate to characters when they are being used in the 3rd person.
I will be using the present tense. I want the novel to be something that is happening now, and not in the past. It does have a past aspect to it, in the beginning. When people read it, I want them to be able to get the feeling that what they are reading is happening at this very moment, possibly making it easier to relate to.

Chapter Outlines:

Chapter 1:

Callie is introduced. A day in the life of Callie. In this chapter, you will find a typical day-in-the-life of Callie Rae. This is being done for the reader to get to know the main character more. They will get to know the good side of her, and even experience a little bit of her angry side. Arianna, Callie’s best friend, is also introduced in this chapter.

Chapter 2:

Arianna introduces Callie to Jayson. Arianna and Jayson knew each other before moving to Barrie. They both grew up in Brampton, right next door to each other. Just recently, they began hanging out again. When Callie and Jayson first meet, they are not all that fond of each other, but get along, for Arianna’s sake.

Chapter 3:

Callie and Jayson start to actually like each other as friends. Jayson introduces Callie to his group of friends, and vice versa. They find that they come from very different worlds. Callie is intrigued by Jayson and his friends, and begins to hang around them more.

Chapter 4:

Callie begins to leave her old habits and old friends behind, and starts to try new ones. She tries smoking, starts drinking more, and is often found skipping class to be with Jayson. Old friends that knew Callie say that she is going down the wrong path and that she needs to get out before she is in too deep.

Chapter 5:

Callie doesn’t care what everyone is saying about her. She enjoys this new group of friends and their way of living. In this chapter, there is a brush between Callie’s old group of friends and her new group. And Callie? She chooses her new group.

Chapter 6:

Callie gets invited to a house party. Jayson and Callie become a lot closer, get to know each other better. Callie starts to see Jayson in a whole new light. Jayson asks Callie out. Callie says yes.

Chapter 7:

Arianna has an audition, Callie goes to support her and convinces Jayson to go with them. Jayson then convinces Daniel to tag along. Daniel watches Arianna audition and is memorised. He has never really payed much attention to her before, but now, things are different. Daniel has an interest in Arianna.

Chapter 8:

Callie and Jayson get into a fight. Callie hears something from an old friend of hers’ about Jayson being with another girl, and doesn’t know who to believe. She chooses to believe the old friend over Jayson and this causes a problem between the two.

Chapter 9:

Arianna and Daniel start dating. Callie refuses to talk to Jayson, no matter how hard he tries. Jayson begins to fall back into his old habits (hardcore drugs and excessive alcohol use). When Callie finds out, she pleads with him to stop.

Chapter 10:

Daniel has a heart to heart with Jayson about Callie, and how she is the best thing that has happened to him in a long time. Daniel believes Jayson would be a fool to let her go. Arianna talks to Callie about Jayson. Arianna and Daniel convince Jayson and Callie to go to the dinner that had been set up for the two.

Chapter 11:

Things are good again for Callie and Jayson. The characters go though a couple pf days that seem to be the ‘perfect days.’ This does not last long though. Chris, a former friend of Daniel’s, shows up back in town, after having been gone almost two years now. Chris still believe Daniel the one responsible for selling him out about his ‘business.’

Chapter 12:

Naturally, Chris is looking for revenge on Daniel.

Take My Breath Away - Lyric Poem

I remember the way you looked that day
Not amazing, or spectacular
Not splendid, nor regular
You were standing there
Looking like you, just you
Nothing special
And yet you managed
To take my breath away

I remember when you looked at me
A shy, sweet and yet curious look
Like you wanted to know more
Then you came over
Started to talk to me, just me
Nothing major
And yet you managed
To take my breath away

I remember when you held me
Caring and something special
You held me tight, kept me safe
Soothed my worries
Holding me, just me
Nothing extraordinary
And yet you managed
To take my breath away

I remember when you kissed me
Amazing, sweet and special
Filled with passion
Leaving me on cloud nine
You kissed me, just me
It was special!
It was major!
It was extraordinary!
Fireworks went off

You swept me off my feet
I knew this wasn’t a fairytale
It was real
You said you loved me, just me
Something wonderful was happening
Between me and you, you and me
Something incredible
And yet you managed
To take my breath away

We were together for a short while
Our shared fairytale
Came to an end
Neither of us wanted it to
We were good together, you and me
Simple differences got in the way
I look back at you

And you still manage
To take my breath away

Found Poem

What does Remembrance Day mean to you?
To remember and honour
All veterans past and present
Who made the ultimate sacrifice
Who lost their lives
For the freedom of all Canadians
Then and now
We will remember them
Lest we forget

Stop, Just Stop. - Dramatic Monologue

Stop.
Just stop it.
I can’t take this anymore.
The lies, the hurt.
It’s all too much for me.

I have done nothing.
Nothing but trust you.
Love you.
I gave you my all.
All and so much more.

Every time I look at you.
It hurts.
I want you more than anything.
But, I can’t have you.
It kills me to know that.

You tell me you want to be with me.
More than anything in the world.
But, do you really mean it?
It doesn’t seem like it.

You are still dating another girl.
And yet, you love me?
How can you date one and love another?
It doesn’t make sense to me.

Sounds to me like you want to have
Your cake and eat it too.
I am tired of being the other woman.
It’s something I never wanted to do.
I told you that from the start.

You always told me exactly what I wanted to hear.
Told me you were sorry.
Told me things were complicated.
Told me you wanted to be with me.
Told me I was good for you.
You told me that things would change.

And yet, I’m left here waiting.
Waiting for something, - a miracle, maybe-
Something, anything to happen.
For you to prove to me that you love me.

But, if you don’t love me
All I am asking from you is to,

Stop.
Just stop.
Cause I can’t do this anymore.
The lies, the hurt.
It’s all too much for me.

My Own Poem

She wipes a tear
As she tries not to cry
For it’s been four years
Since he died

She remembers the day clearly
Everything happened too fast
No one was ready
For the news that came

Memories float in her mind
Both the happy and sad
Wishing she could see him
Just one last time…

He lived his life
Taken too early
He should be here
Living, with us

She closes her eyes
As she pictures him
Standing next to her
Holding her hand

He comforts her
He tells her
He’s okay and
Not to worry

She wants him back
But knows it cannot be
For that is
The way of life

No longer with us physically
Always here spiritually
Watching over us
She feels his presence

She wipes a tear
No longer crying
She tells him
She loves him
And he says,
I love you too

Ode to a Student

You come to school every morning
With a smile that lights up the room
While others are off playing
You are busy working without gloom
Trying hard to stay on track
With a joy that you can’t live without
Suddenly, you are done, and want to walk
We take you around the school and back
You check your schedule and never pout
Then sit down, and listen as we talk

And after the work is all done
You tell us what you want to play
And we let you have your fun
You smile and laugh as you bounce away
We watch you and can’t help but wonder
Are we getting through to you at all?
Always off in your own little world
Are you slowly falling into a slumber?
Or are you able to hear our call?
We ponder as your hair is left swirled

Journal # 13

“What do you think about the writer’s lifestyle? How much of it appeals to you? Which aspect least appeals to you? Can you envision yourself doing the job? Describe how writing might either fit into your lifestyle or become your lifestyle in the future.”

Writing, for me, is more of a hobby, rather than a lifestyle. The writer’s lifestyle is not all that appealing to me. The parts that do appeal to me are being able to set my own schedule, travelling to different places and meeting new people. The parts that do not appeal to me are the difficulty of creating a masterpiece from nothing more than mere ideas, the solitariness and the length process it takes.

I tend to lack focus when it comes to writing. Well, when finishing something. I will often get ideas for stories, and poems and write them down and then, nothing else happens to them. If I put all of my unfinished work together, I would probably have a lengthy novel of it all. As a writer, I would have to discipline myself to ensure that I follow through on finishing what I start.

Being a social person, I would not enjoy the solitary lifestyle of a writer. I like to be around people and enjoy socializing. After all, this is where most of my inspiration comes from. My inspiration for writing tends to come from people around me, and events that are happening. I also write a lot better about things that I have experienced first hand. Everything makes much more sense when you experience it, rather than just using research, in my opinion, anyways.

Professional writing is also a very lengthy process. First off, you have to come up with an idea. Then, plan that idea out and develop characters, ensuring these characters are real and easy to relate to. once this part is done, you can begin to write. There is no telling how the writing portion may take. After the writing comes revision. I believe that a writer is their own worst critic. They have the ability to put together a masterpiece, and yet, they may not think its good enough. The sign of a well developed writer, in my opinion, is one who is able to know when to put the pen down, and walk away. After the revision, is the changing process. what did not work before has to be reworked. This can take a long time to complete. Once the story is finished being written, you then have to worry about getting published, finding someone to publish and hoping your book will sell. All of this work is not for he person who enjoys writing as a hobby, rather than as a profession.

I do not think the writer’s lifestyle would fit into my personal lifestyle. As of right now, I have a lot going on, and rarely have the time to just sit down and focus on writing. If I had more free time on my hands, I might consider writing as a possible career. For me, writing should be fun, and not feel like a chore. When you do not have a lot of available time, writing can feel like a chore. When it starts to feel like this, you are never able to produce your best work. Writing should be enjoyable.

On the up side, I would enjoy the perks that would come with being a writer. Perks such as having your name known, being able to set your own schedule and being able to travel and meet new people. This is the part of the writer’s lifestyle that appeals to me the most. Aside from these perks, I would not enjoy the lifestyle of a writer.

Sonnet

Love, how ever sweet you can be to thee
Beautiful and kind, as sweet as thy looks
A rose can never be mistook for thee
More beautiful and lovely than books
Thy eternal beauty forever shinin’
Brighter than the hot blazing summer sun
No other beauty is found in minin’
Shinier than the winter snow time fun
More lovely art thou than a red, red rose
A beautiful princess in a fairytale
Fairer than an angel striking a pose
Royalty in all ways that tell thy tale
Sweet, beautiful and pretty are thou thee
In every shining light that thou can see
